The 2016 Republic Day special Lalbagh Flower Show started last Saturday (16th January) and will end by 26th January. This season’s flower show is dedicated to Gustav Hermann Krumbiegel, a German landscape artist of the garden.

Unlike every flower shows in Lalbagh, there were hundreds of stalls, exhibitions, plants and flowers everywhere. There was an exhibition on scientific water management for sustainable horticulture.

Traders had come from faraway places to sell their products in flower show. There were stalls selling horticulture products like seeds, manures, plants and other related equipments. The visitors had a chance of buy handicrafts, ornamental plants and many food items.

What was disappointing in the Lalbagh flower show was the parking issue. During the flower shows, parking is not allowed inside Lalbagh. Instead, the visitors are directed to park their vehicle in the nearby BMTC bus stand’s multi-level parking facility which is few hundred steps away from the garden.

The parking contractors seem to be charging more than the regulated amount – Rs. 40 for two wheeler and Rs. 80 for four wheeler. However, I found a cheaper parking space (Rs. 20 for two wheels) near Lalbagh itself. Hope the government authorities will step in and sort out the issue.
