The Windflower Resort Coorg stands out from other resorts not in terms of its size or food spreads but from its simplicity and yet offers world class services.
Not sure how many acres of coffee estate the Windflower Resort is built up in, you will find nothing but coffee plantations as far as your eye sight reaches.

Travelling from Mysore to Madikeri was a pleasant one as always and we were excited about staying in Windflower.

We reached the resort just before the lunch hours. The staffs were very humble and welcoming. As we arrived in the resort, we were given a flower garlands, wet napkin (to wipe our face) and a welcome drink (cold coffee).

All the guests were given a flower garland, a wet napkin and a complimentary welcome drink

Within no time, a porter transports all our baggages to the Planters Bungalow (yes we stayed in Planters Bungalow) in an electric car.
The Planters Bungalow Windflower Coorg

The Planters Bungalow seemed to be the most expensive compared with other accommodation in Windflower. It is a cottage with one big hall and two beautifully furnished rooms.
As we entered the planter’s bungalow, I was awestruck after seeing the extra life size painting of a British gentleman with a colonel uniform (I have a special respect for paintings). The main hall was neatly done with enough furniture to host a small meeting among the family members or with anybody for that matter.

The two rooms on the either side of the hall was perfectly setup with required amenities. What I liked the most was everything wood inside, including the flooring. Each room had a sit out with small table and chair and there was a private Jacuzzi and a swimming pool as well. With such setup, it was a real bliss to stay in Planters Bungalow.

If you are in Planter’s Bungalow, you need not walk to the main swimming pool which is quite faraway. You can enjoy the mini pool attached to the cottage itself.

Just in front the cottage, there’s a mini pool, min garden, Jacuzzi and a beautiful view of Coffee Plantations.

It’s the privacy that matters for many of us while in resort. You can choose to throw away your laptop and mobile and just relax or use the complimentary wifi start working. There was no Vodafone or Airtel connectivity but BSNL connected seamlessly.
Lunch Buffet

There is nothing special to say about lunch buffet here. The spread was very minimal. I was looking for some Chicken/Mutton Biryani and dry types which wasn’t there. I am comparing the buffet spread with Ramada Caravela Beach Resort Goa.

The best buffet experience I had was in Chutney Chang in Bangalore and Park Plaza in Salem
The actual location of Windflower Resort is in Suntikoppa, about 15 kms from Madikeri or about half an hour drive. We took a short trip to Madikeri and made up to Raja Seat, a popular tourist spot. We could not cover other places as it was almost dark. The night buffet was something similar to the one we had in the afternoon.
The Breakfast

The breakfast was typical south India along with some continental dishes. Check out the photographs below. You may also wish to see high resolution photographs in our other blog My Canon.

We checked out by 12 noon, we planned for Dubare Elephant Camp which apparently closes by 11am (got the information by resort staff). We were advised to go to Nisargadhama near Kushalnagar where we fed the deer.
