Chicken Manchurian at Charan Residency

The Chicken Manchurian, Chicken Noodle and Hot Tea photographs were captured in Charan Residency (Restaurant) in Palamaner, Andhra Pradesh. This post is about the food we had and our experience in the restaurant.

We were on our way to Chennai from Bengaluru. For some reason, we took Kolar route instead of our usual Hosur-Krishnagiri rout. The drive in this rout is not as smooth as the Hosur route but the advantage is you don’t shell out money for tolls.

To drive in the Kolar route is real fun but dangerous at the same time. It is a single lane road and you got to be very cautious while overtaking. But the road isn’t bad though.

As we were crossing Palamaner (Andhra Pradesh), we came across a café shop facing the highway. We stopped there for some tea and snacks. There were few customers in the café speaking Hindi with the café in-charge, a lady, who was from north-east of India.

There wasn’t much to eat in the café apart from some biscuits and packed juices. I still asked her if food was served there. She pointed to the restaurant behind the café and said that the restaurant is open.

The café was a part of larger building, known as the Charan Residency which also had a garden restaurant. The building (in the photograph above) looked empty. In fact, there was just one family leaving out.

We never bothered to check out the building but decided to sit outside. The kitchen was also located outside the main building and very near the sit out. The advantage was you get your orders faster.

We saw a staff, also from the north-east getting into the kitchen. Within a moment, another staff came out from kitchen to take our orders and guess what? She was also from north-east! The restaurant had no locals and it looked like one single family had an agreement with the owner.

The menu there was Chinese, we ordered for a plate of Chicken Manchurian and Chicken Noodle. It took less than 10 minutes for our order to reach us and that was worth the waiting.

Chicken Manchurian
Chicken Manchurian was so perfectly cooked and delicious too

Trust me the Chicken Manchurian was delicious and perfectly prepared in a typical Chinese style, it was little spicy, which was ok for our taste buds. I could taste the spring onions which were generously sprinkled and the onions, garlic’s, all in perfect quantity.

Our next order was chicken noodle which was not bad at all. In fact, it was far better than most of the Chinese restaurants in the metros. But the noodle was not as spicy and it was good that way.

We finally ordered for a tea which was served to our table from the Café. I think it is the first time I had a tea after eating Chinese. Most of the Chinese restaurants do not serve tea (at least those I have visited in Bengaluru and Mysuru).

How was the tea then? It was just too good! I will come here again to order the same course. I really liked the Chicken Manchurian J
